The confidential identification of every patient is critical to achieve privacy in the deployment of electronic health records. TASCET enables healthcare institutions to accurately identify patients regardless of their local medical record number, match patients to their complete health record, and protect the privacy of personal health information.

Seven – Patient Identification

Patient identification through TASCET ensures that the patient has a single identity within the organization's patient database, has not been mismatched with another patient, and is not attempting to fraudulently receive medical care using another individual's identity.

To accurately identify a patient, a provider sends the seven core pieces of information needed for identification (five biographics – name, address, gender, date of birth, country of origin – and two physical characteristics, finger and facial images) to TASCET.

The Seven is matched against individuals previously identified by organizations in healthcare and other sectors. Notification of a TSeven (a TASCET-confirmed unique identity) is provided within moments, which ensures the individual is not fraudulently using a multiple identity to receive medical care or benefits coverage.

Once the TSeven is established, the patient is issued a Standard Patient Number (SPN), a unique personal number that becomes the secure patient identifier. The SPN binds the patient to their medical record and enables the removal of identifying data from the record during electronic exchange, strengthening the privacy of the patient and their health information.
