REGISTERED ID

Driver's licenses and state-issued identification cards are possibly the most widely-used credentials for verifying your identity. However, the fraudulent misuse of driver licenses led Congress to pass the REAL ID Act, which is intended to make these credentials more secure and to reduce their fraudulent misuse.

REGISTERED ID is an essential component that eliminates the use of multiple, alias or duplicate identities and ensures that the individuals applying for a REAL ID driver's license or identification card are not using a false or stolen identity.

Registration in the Identity Network as you apply for a driver's license or ID card turns REAL ID into a powerful tool to protect the ownership of your identity and diminish identity fraud.

When you apply for a driver's license or non-driver identification card, you lend information about your identity to your state motor vehicle department and it is used to enroll you in their database and issue your card. If the state participates in the Identity Network, a small amount of your information (your name, gender, date of birth, address and country of birth) and a biometric (fingerprint, iris, facial image, signature or voice) is simultaneously registered in the Identity Network and matched against other identity information to confirm your ownership of a unique identity.

As individuals are registered from states across the country, their identity is also matched against those in the Identity Network to ensure that they are using a unique identity, not one that is false or stolen. This eliminates the potential for individuals to create a multiple or alias identity using your identity and protects you from the emotional and financial harm of identity fraud.

The result: You protect the ownership of your identity.

Your personal information is kept confidential and secure. We do not data mine or sell the information registered in the Identity Network; and we do not monitor the transactions that require your identity information.
