REGISTERED ID

The REAL ID Act was passed to create a more secure identification credential by improving the issuance of driver licenses and identification cards; to lessen the potential for fraudulent misuse of these widely-used source documents.

Registration of identities in the TASCET Identity Network - through REGISTERED ID - turns this credentialing program into a powerful tool to diminish identity theft and fraud by eliminating the use of multiple, alias or duplicate identities.

REGISTERED ID enables the identity to be matched across multiple databases. This ensures that the individual applying for a REAL ID driver's license or identification card can hold only one identity and be issued credentials under that identity alone.

REGISTERED ID solves many of the key challenges to meeting REAL ID mandates - including a requirement for multiple license checks - and significantly reduces the cost to states and time needed for implementation.

A Multi-Use Credential

REGISTERED ID also allow states to offer a multi-use identification card that could potentially be used to satisfy requirements of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) for a border crossing credential, or to designate a card-holder as a First Responder.

Key challenges and costs solved by REGISTERED ID:

  • Document standards for proving identity and preventing the misuse of DL / ID cards.
  • Enhanced driver's license (such as WHTI-enabled)
  • Reduced costs of implementation: the system to check for multiple licenses among states will not have to be built, staffed and maintained.
  • A Multi-Use Credential

REGISTERED ID allows states to tie numerous credentials to one card, such designations may include WHTI (Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative) or First Responder.
